Evan Maslak

Evan’s love of percussion began when he was nine years old.  Growing up in Overland Park, Kansas Evan was musically active at St. Thomas Aquinas High School.  Outside of school, Evan participated in the Kansas City Youth Symphony and Kansas City Youth Jazz Band, each for two years.  In 2008, Evan performed at the KMEA all state music convention with the Kansas City Youth Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Keith Larson.

In 2013, Evan completed a Bachelor’s of Music Performance at the UMKC conservatory of music.  While attending UMKC, Evan studied percussion and drum set, and managed to stay well rounded by performing with the Wind Symphony, Orchestra, percussion ensemble and jazz combos.

Evan is currently the drum line and percussion instructor at Shawnee Mission South and Bishop Miege High School.  Since 2010, Evan has served as the assistant director of the Kansas City Youth Percussion Ensemble.  As a performer, Evan plays regularly with the Mikey Needleman Band throughout the Midwest, and has recorded drums for various studio projects.  He also plays drum set on the worship teams at Journey Church International and United Methodist Church of the Resurrection West, and has performed with several local jazz musicians throughout the Kansas City area.
